ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — American Idol star and Andover native Casey McQuillen returned to her hometown Friday as the last stop on her 'You Matter' Tour promoting self confidence and anti-bullying.

McQuillen says the tour has brought her before thousands of children across the United States and Europe and, "uses some of the music I wrote in middle school and high school to talk to kids about issues like bullying and self confidence and taking risks."

Kindness is a big theme of the tour. West Middle School Principal Timothy Corkery says the message wraps up anti-bullying month for students. "One of our mantras is 'we're a place where everyone belongs' and I think this performance really reinforces that message."

McQuillen kicks off another leg of the tour in January.
