AMESBURY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) – A Massachusetts baker took home the cake from a nationally syndicated baking competition.

Renee Terry, who runs Sweet Cheeks Bakery from her home in Amesbury, beat out other bakers from around the country to win Food Network’s Cookie Christmas challenge. One of the competitions involved making a Christmas sweater cookie, for which Terry wanted to go above and beyond.

“I added this massive tree on top and these, like, 3D macaron cookies and cupcakes and all this stuff onto my 3D sweater,” she said. “I stood out a little more, I think.”

Although, Terry added that this victory did not come without its fair share of crumbles. In a post on Facebook, she addressed how the competition challenged her.

“There were tons of hiccups that weren’t aired,” the post read. “For instance, in the first challenge I managed to forget to add eggs. I’ve been doing this for YEARS. HOW DID I FORGET THE EGGS??? I was able to fix it quick and easy but my goodness you would’ve thought it was the end of the world at first.”

Terry also thanked her team who helped carry her to victory. Now, Terry is taking a well-deserved break by not taking orders for the rest of the year.
