DEDHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — As snow, ice, and salt coat roads in Massachusetts, potholes have become a greater problem for drivers.
According to the city of Framingham, during winter, constant freezing and thawing of water underneath the pavement cause roads to crack.
“Once cracked, the pavement deteriorates quickly under the weight of traffic and streets can seem to break out in potholes overnight,” the city said on its website.
Natalie, a Dedham resident who was at the Endicott MBTA Commuter Rail stop Thursday, said she chose to take the train to work because of the growing potholes.
“A lot of private roads are extremely torn up, especially Jefferson Street,” she said. “I wish the town would do a little bit better of a job taking care of our roads.”
Dedham Public Works Department tells WBZ NewsRadio that they have crews working to fix the potholes across the town. Officials encourage residents to report potholes to Dedham DPW so they can fix them as soon as possible.
