Andover Market Basket Warehouse Employees Refuse To Work

ANDOVER, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Some employees at Market Basket's Perishable Distribution Center in Andover were refusing to work this morning, after a fellow worker tested positive for coronavirus.

Video of the incident posted online shows a senior manager standing outside the facility before sunrise, reassuring the warehouse workers that there are now disinfectant wipes on hand, and that cleaning protocols are in place.

"We are going to be cleaning every day to make sure that everybody stays safe. And those are the facts," he said. "I understand everybody is concerned, and there's a lot of fear.... but we can't be stopped by fear."

In a statement, Market Basket said it is disinfecting the warehouse, the infected worker and his close contacts are in isolation at home for 14 days, and frontline workers have been offered personal protective equipment.
