BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Boston Mayor Michelle Wu picks up another endorsement, as the 2025 Boston mayoral election creeps closer.

Angela Menino, wife of former Boston Mayor Tom Menino, endorsed Mayor Wu in her bid for reelection. In a statement, Menino said Mayor Wu has continued her husband's legacy by “showing up, taking care of the small things and building the trust necessary to get big things done.”

“I’m proud to support Michelle as Mayor, and I know my husband would have endorsed her as well, as he supported her when she ran for City Council,” said Menino in the statement. “We have seen her work hard to make Boston a home for everyone. She has my vote and full support.”

Mayor Menino was Boston’s longest-serving mayor, holding the position for over two decades. He passed away in 2014 after a battle with cancer, but Angela has remained active in Boston politics. After getting an endorsement from Angela back in 2021, Mayor Wu thanked her for her continued support.

“My time working for Mayor Menino taught me that city government can make a difference every day by putting people first. And as she showed as a working mom herself, Mrs. Menino knows how to get things done with families in mind,” said Mayor Wu in a statement.

Mayor Wu will face off against several challengers, most notably Joshua Kraft, who is also running as a democrat. Since joining the race, Kraft has criticized Mayor Wu over what he has called an “ideology-first, results-second approach to governing.”
