BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Animal Rescue League of Boston is building a new, state-of-the-art facility at its Chandler Street location in the South End, the group announced Tuesday.
The project was born out of an "urgent and pressing need to rebuild ARL’s Boston Animal Care & Adoption Center and increase its capacity to help pets and animals in need," ARL said.

According to ARL, the proposed three-story facility will include a veterinary hospital, animal care and adoption center, space for dog training courses, a hub for support services for pet owners, and a second home for its newly established humane education program.
"Our new facility isn’t just a building; it’s a symbol of our commitment to animals and the people who love them," ARL President and CEO Dr. Edward Schettino said in a statement. "It is our honor to reinvest in the City the Boston, its residents, and its pets with a new world-class facility that will provide animals with the highest standards of care for generations."
Construction is expected to begin late spring 2025 with uninterrupted operations of its Boston-based programs, ARL said.
