ALLSTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — You know how the saying goes: “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

That couldn't be more true for Allston residents on Sep. 1, moving day for many Bostonians and incoming college students. The sidewalks and streets throughout the city are often filled with deserted furniture’s that tenants gave up.

For residents that have already done their moving and still need to find that one coffee table, the treasure hunt on Sep. 1 feels like Christmas to them.

“It’s like the holidays, free stuff!” one Allston resident at the Silhouette Cocktail Lounge told WBZ NewsRadio.

That's why Allston residents’ coined that day as Allston Christmas, and it’s “all about the couches, the nightstands, all the side tables available on the street just for you,” she added.

At the Silhouette Cocktail Lounge on Brighton Ave., the hub goes all out celebrating this holiday with Yuletide décor and on-theme cocktails, such as “All I Got for X-mas is STORROWED,” a passion fruit liqueur drink, and “The Grinch who stole my parking spot,” a minty and creamy rumechata.

Though the actually Christmas holiday is still months away, Allston will already be ready for the festivities.
