Annual Cardboard Canoe Race Held On Wright's Pond

MEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds of people came out events held at Wright’s Pond in Medford Saturday.

One event held was the second annual Cardboard Canoe Race, which was sponsored by non-profit M3 Outdoor Adventures.

“Our mission is to really get kids outside. And not just outside and hanging out, but outside and doing stuff and experiencing nature,” M3 Outdoor Adventures founder and Executive Director Niklas Tower said.

Tower is also a teacher at Medford High School

At the Cardboard Canoe Race, kids “build and race your own canoe that’s made completely out of cardboard, duct tape, and polyurethane,” Tower said.

Cardboard canoe team “Nasa” was one winner at Saturday’s race.
