Annual Event, Supporting Veterans And Shelter Dogs, Held In Carlisle

CARLISLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Hundreds came out with their dogs Saturday for an annual event that supports veterans and shelter dogs.

The Walk and Wag for Veterans, which is Operation Delta Dog’s largest fundraiser, was held at Great Brook Farm State Park in Carlisle.

Participants collected pledges for walking a 2.5 mile loop. This was to raise money for the charitable organization that pairs veterans suffering from PTSD and other conditions with service dogs that were rescued from shelters.

Participant Maria Jenkins came with her dog Ruger. She said it’s an important charity for her to support.

“We lost our son a year ago, and Ruger was actually his dog. He was a Marine veteran. Operation Delta Dog veterans and their causes were very important to him,” Jenkins said.
