BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — It’s going to be too hot to handle for some areas in New England as a heat advisory is in effect until Thursday night.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said muggy weather is building up after Monday’s storm.

The heat and humidity are expected to be 80 to 90 degrees in Boston, peaking on Wednesday and Thursday with temps reaching the high 90s. Real feel temperatures are going to be in triple digits.

A passerby named William told WBZ NewsRadio that summer doesn’t last forever so we should embrace the heat.

“We only get it for a few months out of the year so [we have to] be grateful for what we got,” he said.

Lloyd is visiting from Georgia and said he knows all too well about the humidity.

“The humidity kills me,” he said. “In the south, everybody has central air. It’s really easy to hide from the heat, but here, when it gets humid, it gets difficult for everybody.”

The NWS said the advisory could extend beyond the three days into Friday as well— making it a potential heat wave.

Hot weather can cause heat-related illness, like heat stroke. The NWS urges residents to take precautions and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, limit spending time outdoors, wear light weight and colored clothing, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Several Bostonians said they plan on spending more time indoors the next three days.

Among them is William. He said he will “spend a lot of time indoors with the air conditioning. But we do go outside every now and then to go out for a walk and stuff like that.”
