ROCKPORT, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — In time for Valentine’s Day, the metaphysical supply and gift shop Apothecary Suil Crow in Rockport is offering customers an opportunity to make their own “love intention candles” as gifts for the people they love.

Rebeccah Pearson is the owner of the store, which is an “olde world metaphysical shop” that provides “gifts for all occasions including homemade items and accessories," explained their website.

The shop sells herbs and plants used in “the modern practice of herbalism, Olde World Practitional Workins and spiritualism,” said their website. Apothecary Suil Crow got its name from the Celtic understanding of the crow, which symbolizes individuality and prophetic knowledge.

At Apothecary Suil Crow, Rebeccah has been teaching people to make homemade love intention candles to gift to loved ones, just in time for Valentine’s Day this year.

The candles can be made from a variety of ingredients from her store, such as rosebuds, lavender and soy wax. And Rebeccah said that a key ingredient is your “loving intentions for the recipient.”

Rebeccah explained the significance of a handmade, personalized gift like the candles being made at her store. “Something homemade comes from you, comes from your heart, and comes from your fire and your passion, right? And so you’re actually putting an essence of you into that item.”

“You always want to do it with love in your heart. I even say to people, when you start out, giggle a little. Smiling and laughter is the best wonderful magic that can come out of your own body.”

Rebeccah said that these candles could help increase affection between people who already have a connection, rather than create love where there is none. “There always has to be love that exists already there. You can never, of course, put your desired will for a love on somebody that doesn’t already exist because ‘Fatal Attraction’ is a really good movie,” said Rebeccah with a laugh.

“If you’re giving it to someone that you’re already in love with, you’re passing that love forward” through the candle, Rebeccah added.

Rebeccah leads both group and private classes at Apothecary Suil Crow.
