BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The longest running animated kids' series featuring a certain anthropomorphic aardvark has aired its final episode after 25 years on television.

"Arthur" ended its run after season 25's last episode, "All Grown Up," aired on Monday. As the title of the episode suggested, the final episode of "Arthur" showed what the characters were up to as 28-year-olds. Except for one character, "Brain," who did not make an appearance during the episode.

WBZ's James Rojas spoke to a few Boston locals about their experience with the two and a half decade long run of "Arthur."

"I definitely watched it when my sister was little, she was born in '95 so we watched it when she was young, and my kids used to watch it too," said one local.

"We have our four-year-old watch it sometimes, so it's nice having him watch it and see the stories and everything come to life and learning in the process," said another man. Many said they were impressed with the show's family-friendly educational value, and the evolution it has undergone throughout the years.

The series, which began in 1996, was based on the best-selling books by author and illustrator and former Hingham resident Marc Brown.
