BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The 15th annual Asian American Day festival has taken over Boston Common Saturday, celebrating Asian culture and traditions.

The family-friendly events packed the park with music, dance, art, and food of all culture and traditions from across the continent.

For attendees like Anna of Duxbury, the festival has a deeper meaning.

“It feels really great to see all that because I come from a smaller town that’s not very diverse there, so it’s really nice to have a reminder of how big the Chinese community here in Boston and Massachusetts is,” she added.

Boston’s Asian American Association established Asian American Day in 2011, in honor of the ever-growing community within the city. The day of celebration not only allows the local community to connect with their cultural roots but also serves as a form of education.

Olivia from Lexington agreed with that sentiment.

“I think especially now there’s so many other distractions in the world, I think being able to recognize where my parents came from their roots as well is also important part,” she continued.
