Attleboro Family Holds Birthday Cake Drive For Local Residents

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — What's a birthday without a birthday cake? One Attleboro family doesn't want anyone to find out the answer to that question.

The family is holding a "birthday cake drive" to ensure that every resident in the area has the means and resources to bake their own birthday cake, either for themselves or loved ones.

Six-year-old Wesley Beal, along with his ten-year-old sister Sophia and his mother Stacey, started the drive for donations of basic cake supplies to help those struggling to make ends meet.

"So many people have come upon hardships during this pandemic," Stacey said. "Something as easy as a birthday cake isn't that easy for many families, so [Wesley and Sophia] thought it would be great to provide birthday bags to the local food pantry."

Stacey added that they have collected cake mix, frosting, oil, sprinkles, and candles in every donation bag. They even collect napkins and sometimes mini piñatas to help people celebrate their big day.

“It doesn’t cost anything to give people a smile,” Sophia said.

So far, the family has completed 70 birthday bags that they plan to donate to two area food pantries.

If you're looking for information on how to donate any supplies, you can email Stacey at staceybeal@icloud.com.
