Auburn Firefighter Jim Sweeney Retires After 44 Years Of Service

AUBURN, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A firefighter in Auburn, Mass. completed his final shift on the force on Friday morning.

Surrounded by friends, family and colleagues, Firefighter Jim Sweeney walked out of the fire station to a standing ovation. Sweeney had just finished his final 24-hour shift with the Auburn Fire and Rescue Department.

Sweeney spent 44 years working for the fire department and his colleagues said he would be dearly missed.

Thank you Jim for everything you have contributed to this department and our members over the years. We wish you a happy and healthy retirement,” said the Auburn Fire and Rescue Department on X.
