Australian City Transformed Into 1940s Boston For Movie

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Bendigo, a city in Victoria, Australia, was transformed for the filming of a new movie about the Boston Marathon.

The film, which takes place in 1947, is called “Road to Boston.” It’s described as a true story about a Korean athlete who won the Boston Marathon that year.

A building in the town was made to look like Boston’s Municipal Chambers, and some cars were made to look like vintage Boston Police cars.

Photographer Joel Bramley snapped shots of the set. He said about 300 extras were also there to cheer on the runners in the film.

"I was actually surprised by how little it took to make it look like it was back in the past," Bramley said. "It was amazing to see how it all worked and to see their designs. I'd never seen anything like that before."

Other cities in Australia also doubled as parts of Boston.
