Authorities Search for Suspect After Malden Shooting

MALDEN, Mass (WBZ NewsRadio) — Authorities are asking the public’s help in finding a suspect after the shooting death of a Malden Man.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Malden Chief of Police Kevin Molis say that 18-year-old for Yahia Mastouri, 18, of Malden, is wanted in the fatal shooting of Jeury Batista, 23 on March 2.

Officials that that Malden Police responded to a shooting that happened at the Bowdoin Apartments. They found Batista, who is from Salem, Mass, and he was brought to MelroseWakefield Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to Ryan, investigatiors suggests that the shooting was part of a suspected drug transaction and is not believed to be a random incident of violence.

Mastouri is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall and was last seen in Malden on the night of the shooting, Ryan said in a statement.

Officials say that if Mastouri is seen — he should not be approached.
