Ayer Police Investigating Church Break-In

AYER (WBZ NewsRadio) — Ayer Police are investigating after a church was broken into and vandalized Wednesday.

Officers were called to St. Andrew's Church on Faulkner Street around 10:30 a.m.

The department said the door to the church was forced open, several items were thrown around and damaged, and someone lit all of the candles on a shrine.

"When a place of worship is victimized, its a disturbing event not only for the parishioners, but also for the community as a whole because of their close connections to the neighborhoods they are in," Ayer Police wrote on their Facebook page.

They're asking the public to "keep their eyes and ears open," and to contact them with any information about the vandalism at 978-772-8200 ext. 507.
