BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — With the start of school right around the corner, some families are making their back-to-school checklists.
And while most parents are probably looking forward to the new year, some kids are dreading it, others are looking forward to reconnecting with students and teachers.
WBZ NewsRadio's Chaiel Schaffel was out at the Boston Common Frog Pond talking to parents and kids about the upcoming school season.
One of the parents happened to be a teacher.
She said she was still waiting to receive information from her school. "I haven't even gotten the list from the school of what we need yet," she said. "They're running late, so we're running late."
Another parent was one step ahead. "Actually, on the way home, we're going to stop at Staples and get school supplies."
For their part, the kids seemed more resigned than anything.
One said she was looking forward to school because without it, "things would get boring".
Another had been giving the school calendar some thought. "I want it to be more like school for a quarter of the year," he said. "Then summer school for a quarter of the year."
Many school districts start the school year the week of August 26, but others like Boston start after Labor Day.
