Back To The Grind For Many Massachusetts Students

MILTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Back to the grind.

At least that’s how some parents of school-aged children feel now that spring vacation is over for many people.

Massachusetts public schools follow a schedule each year that has two vacation weeks after the new year and before summer break…. one week in February, another week in April.

Today was the first day back at school for many students returning from April vacation, some of them who spent their off week in sunnier climates such as Walt Disney World in Florida.

This parent said it was a good week to escape, especially since he and his family including his kids in high school, haven’t been away since the pandemic hit.

“Two years ago our kids were on spring break, and  had to rush back because the pandemic had started,” he said. This year he said he and his family just got back from Myrtle Beach.

Not everyone went away during this April vacation week. Trish is a high school student with a steady job. She said she worked all week and is glad to be back at school for what she describes as a little ‘rest and relaxation.”

Meanwhile one thing students and their families are looking forward to… summer vacation is just around the corner.
