Baker Waiting On Congestion Study To Determine Next Steps

BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) – Gov. Charlie Baker said he is waiting on a congestion study before he discusses any kind of fees or taxes regarding heavy traffic.

Some commuters have said they would pay a tax if it would make traffic less congested. Baker said he wants a more controlled approach and is waiting for the results of a study.

“In this particular case, congestion is a function of a lot of things. Some of it is local roads, some of it is state roads, some of it has to do with light cycles,” Baker said. “If you’re sending 16,000 Uber and Lyft vehicles through the airport and into East Boston every single morning, that’s going to create issues on its own, which Massport is trying to deal with.”
