BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Bay Staters recovering from the scorching heat are heading to Lambert's Market to partake in their new "Erewhon Dupe" smoothies.
"It's a good addition to Lambert's. And on a day like today, it's perfect," one customer said.
The grocery store is selling cheaper versions of the popular smoothies offered on the West Coast. Taking a page out of the expensive retailers book, Lambert's viral fame is due to their offerings like "Coconut Cloud" and "Strawberry Glaze," which are similar to Erewhon's "Coconut Cloud," and "Hailey Bieber's Strawberry Glaze Skin."
After 75 years in business, no one could have prepared Nino Lambert, co-owner of the family-owned business, for the public's response to the cheaper imitations of Erewhon's popular $20 smoothies.
"This is the fastest, most crazy thing that I've ever seen," said Lambert.

After starting with a single blender, Lambert said they eventually had to invest in six more to keep up with demand.
"It'd be 30 people who are waiting. We had one blender. And I'm like literally holding it in the freezer up to the fans to try to cool it off."
Known for their fresh produce and salad bar complete with over 100 toppings, some customers say a smoothie bar was the next logical addition to their offerings.
"I think it's a great addition to the store. It makes sense like they have such fresh fruit in this place," one resident said.
With the goal to expand beyond being just a grocery store that sells soups, salads and sandwiches, customers from Cape Cod to Maine are fully embracing the smoothie craze.
