BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2025.
Among the 12 finalists, Trivial Pursuit, Battleship and Slime were selected to be inducted into the class. Founded in 1998, the hall of fame was created to honor the toys and games that shaped our childhoods, and for some, our adulthoods.
"Trivial pursuit. I actually just played that within the past three months," one local said.
Canadian journalists Scott Abbott and Chris Haney developed and created Trivial Pursuit in 1979. By 2023, the trivia board game sold more than 100 million copies, cementing its legacy as the best-selling Canadian board game in history.

Milton Bradley's Battleship has sold over 100 million copies since its debut more than 50 years ago. Matel introduced Slime to the market in 1976. While the neon green substance has seen several imitations, nothing could replicate the popularity of Slime.
The other nominees included Catan, Connect Four, Tickle Me Elmo, Cornhole, Star Wars lightsaber, Furby, the Spirograph drawing device, scooters and snow. While some Bay Staters aren't playing these toys, they are still investing in games they grew up with.
"I'm jumping feet first into it right now. Yeah, I just bought a Pac-Man arcade the other day," another resident said.
