BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As part of 'Boston 250' and the 250th anniversary of America celebrations this summer, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts has transformed 250 bikes across the Bluebikes system into rolling tributes to the America’s 250th anniversary.

The limited-edition bikes entered circulation across Greater Boston starting on June 22.

They feature custom designs created by student artists from MassArt and UMass Boston in collaboration with Blue Cross.

Inspired by themes of healthier people, healthier communities, and a healthier environment, the bikes are appearing throughout the Bluebikes system until mid-August, bringing Boston 250 into neighborhoods and daily commutes across the region.

To encourage residents to join the celebration, riders who spot a Boston 250 bike can share a photo with Blue Cross on social media for a chance to receive a $25 Bluebikes credit, with additional free ride opportunities tied to Boston 250 events planned throughout the summer.
