BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Let the sweating begin.

With the first official heat wave of the summer settling in over the next few days, pools and beaches are going to be very popular spots.

As for families with kids in the city, they’ve already started flocking to swimming and splash pools.

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu declared a heat emergency Thursday and Friday due to the upcoming weather forecast.

High temperatures will reach into the 90s, with the heat index expected to reach up to 100 degrees.

To help residents stay cool, cooling centers are open at 15 Boston Centers for Youth & Families community centers Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
