BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — El Pelón Taqueria on Peterborough Street near Fenway Park officially closed its doors after 25 years.

The Brighton location of the taqueria will remain open and offer catering and delivery options across the city.

The spot near Fenway, however, was loved by so many for its convenient location near Boston College.

News of the closure sent ripples through the school's student body.

BC freshman Darley Rene expressed his concern about the accessibility of the restaurant.

“I'm very concerned about the supply and the demand that we're going to be getting over here,” said Darley. “Is that going to make it harder for me to get my El Pelón next to BC or how does that work?”

Another BC student, junior Chris Major, said he wants to do as much as he can to keep the business alive.

“We can't afford to lose that one,” said Chris. “It's one of our few nice food spots we got on our little strip here, it's definitely a place a lot of our students like to go.”

In a statement, El Pelón thanked its loyal customers for all of the support they have given over the years, reassuring everyone that they will be consolidating their efforts at their remaining spot.

“This is not a goodbye," read the statement. "We hope to see you at the Brighton location.”
