MANCHESTER, N.H. (WBZ NewsRadio) — On the eve of New Hampshire's primary, Vermont ice cream creators Ben and Jerry made a surprise appearance at an event for Senator Bernie Sanders.
The two Burlington natives, whose company slogan is "peace, love and ice cream," told fellow Sanders supporters they were once the most famous Vermonters, pre-Bernie.
Senator Sanders is in Manchester holding several Get Out The Vote events ahead of Tuesday's First-In-The-Nation primary.
According to WBZ NewsRadio's Kendall Buhl who was at the Monday morning rally, the ice cream makers said Sanders would be "a president who believes in justice in all its flavors."
"You can choose a candidate who has wavered back and forth over what they believe in," Ben and Jerry told the crowd, "or you can pick the guy who has been doing the things you want for the last 36 years."
According to the senator's social media pages, he will be celebrating primary-eve at a concert rally with New York City rockers The Strokes.
