BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Happy birthday to Betty White, who is 98 years old today! The former Golden Girl was born on January 17th, 1922 in Oak Park Illinois.
Along with half a dozen Emmy and Grammy awards, White also holds the Guinness World Record for the longest career in entertainment.
She first appeared on TV in 1939, a few months after she graduated high school in Los Angeles.
In the eight decades since her show business debut, White has racked up a hefty 117 acting credits, including her best known roles in Golden Girls and The Mary Tyler Moore Show.
White received a huge outpouring of well wishes from several former co-stars and famous friends on social media today.
Actors Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock even put together a special birthday video in her honor.
Last year, White marked her 97th birthday with a group of friends and a game of poker. When she turned 96, she imparted her wisdom upon the world by attributing her long life to a regular diet of "vodka and hot dogs."
No word on what she's up to this year, but she obviously knows how to party.
White did post last week on Twitter that she had an "early birthday gift" to announce.
White shares her birthday with more than a dozen other well known names, including Muhammad Ali (1942-2016), Jim Carrey (1962), Zooey Deschanel (1980), Michelle Obama (1964), Dwayne Wade (1982), Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790), Al Capone (1899-1947), Steve Harvey (1957), Kid Rock (1971), Eartha Kitt (1927-2008), and Maury Povich (1939.)
