BEVERLY, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The Teamsters Union Local 25 trash strike has now entered its fifth week, and Beverly residents are still eager to fill up dumpsters.
Many cities in the Greater Boston area have been affected by the Republic trash collectors’ strike, leading many areas to create trash drop-off areas.
Some locals are getting a bit tired of the lines.
“It was an hour, an hour and a half long, it was stupid,” said one Beverly native at a drop-off location this week.
Despite long waits, some residents said city workers have been going above and beyond.
“Honestly, I’d just like to thank the city guys for coming down and lending a hand,” said a Beverly resident. “Without them this wouldn’t be possible, so thanks dudes.”
Beverly Commissioner of Public Works Mike Collins said he couldn’t be prouder of his team and the Beverly townspeople.
“I have such a great crew, the guys are doing a great job, they don’t want to be doing this,” said Collins. “A lot of praise from the people in the line, they were grateful for the help. They understand, everybody knows what’s happening.”
