REVERE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Revere High School freshmen now have an extra resource to help them with the challenges of high school.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts (BBBSEM) launched the Big Futures Mentoring program, introducing dozens of freshmen to their mentors on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

“An older individual from the community, who’s established themselves and has been successful in high school, can help them thrive in high school now and also think about their pathway and plan for their future,” said Chief Program Officer Terry McCarron.

Mentors will work closely with the students throughout high school and were matched based on the student’s personal needs, interests and desired career paths. Students like Damien Rivera were excited to get started with the program.

“I’d say it’s pretty beneficial to have someone to be able to talk to, or collaborate with or bring problems to,” Damien Rivera.
