BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — As part of preparations for the Boston Marathon, the Transportation Department is removing the flexposts along the route and replacing them with large orange cones.
While some are enthusiastic about the removal, others loathe the idea of losing the coveted road marker for bikers.
"I bike all the time, so I like the flexposts. I don't like to see them go away. I like the barrier, but it is what it is," says one Bostonian.
All flexposts will be removed by Friday, April 18th and restored by Thursday, April 24th but not everyone will celebrate their return.
"Get rid of them all," says another Bostonian. "I mean the parking situation with the cones and the bike lanes taking up a full lane. It's a joke. It's not the way Boston used to be."
Residents will see a modified configuration of the flexposts after the race, reducing the number for the bike lanes.
