Scituate Black Bear, Nicknamed ‘Boo Boo,’ Makes Its Way To Cohasset

SCITUATE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Cohasset said the black bear, spotted in Scituate on Monday, has made its way to Cohasset.

The bear, nicknamed "Boo Boo," is believed to be the same bear spotted recently in other south shore towns. Cohasset police said it seen near Doane and Beechwood Streets.

Authorities in Scituate said on Monday that the bear was looking for a "suitable habitat and a mate." However, it was expected the bear would move on after being unable to find either of those things in Scituate.

The bear now appears to be headed toward Wompatuck State Park.

Police said if you see a bear, don't approach it and leave it alone. "Please do not chase the bear or provoke the bear in any way," police said.

Residents in Cohasset are being told to take in bird feeders and secure trash cans.
