BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Planes were stuffed like the turkeys people ate on Thanksgiving, and for Black Friday air travel- cautious optimism became the theme.
Passengers arrived at Logan Airport early, holding on to hopes they would be without any significant delays.
“That’s why we’re here so early!” one passenger said.
Many wanted the peace of mind and feeling of pure bliss to lay eyes on their gate with plenty of time to spare before departure.
“We came like an hour earlier than we needed to, we didn’t anticipate that there would be heavy traffic, but just in case,” said a woman heading to Miami for a girl’s trip.
At Terminal A, those flooding the check-in lines said a full Thanksgiving meal did not slow them down from lifting off. What will slow you down at security is stuffing traditional Thanksgiving leftovers like gravy, cranberry sauce, and jam into your luggage (if it’s over 3.4 ounces).
Some travelers skipped the holiday meal altogether to get ahead of the crowds.
“I’m going to Eugene, Oregon for a football game basically, this is more extended family that I’m going to [see] now,” added another traveler.
Black Friday could be considered the eye of the storm numbers-wise, because on Sunday the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) expects to screen over three million passengers nationwide, breaking the record for this time of year.
