BLACKSTONE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Police in Blackstone say they've arrested a teen who shot and killed a cat with an arrow last week.
The 17-year-old male, whose name has not been released due to his age, is charged with felony killing/maiming/poisoning of an animal, felony damaging of personal property, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, and discharging a firearm near a highway.
Police said the pet cat, found shot around 7 p.m. Thursday, had to be euthanized.
On Friday, Police said an anonymous person offered $500 to anyone with information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
Officers raided the 17-year-old's home around 10 a.m. Sunday after getting several tips from area residents. They arrested him after finding a bow and several arrows that matched the one that struck the cat.
“I want to commend Blackstone Police and the Blackstone Valley Drug & Anti Crime Task Force for their dedication to this case,” Blackstone Acting Police Chief Gregory Gilmore said in a release. “Through the public’s assistance, we were able to identify, locate and bring this individual to justice.”
The teen will be called to Milford Juvenile Court at a yet-to-be-determined date.
