HULL, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Paragon Park in Hull’s Nantasket Beach has been ramping up the activities this summer.

From arcade games to old-fashioned carousel rides, Paragon Park had recently partnered with Hometown Arcade to bring even more fun into the mix. Some say the star attraction is the Grand Carousel ride, which is 97 years old and was a part of the original park location down the road.

Jason McCann, one of the park board members, said he thinks it’s a great way to bring more people to the experience.

“It is one of the last remaining Grand Carousels built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company. Our carousel has been operating here at this location for over 30 years,” McCann said. “When it was closed in 1985, some local citizens here moved it over to this location where we operate here as a nonprofit carousel for all to enjoy.”

Paragon Park first opened in 1905 and lasted 80 years before closing. According to The Patriot Ledger, it was then reopened in 2018 as the Paragon Boardwalk, before closing again in 2024 for the development of apartments.

Recently, the Paragon Park Museum partnered with Norwood-based Hometown Arcade, bringing 20 arcade games and more to the museum.

“[We want to] give people a little bit of the experience of what it was like to be at Paragon Park in the 70s and 80s, when there were multiple arcades here at Nantasket Beach,” McCann said. “We thought as a way to brighten that up and do something different, we would bring in a vintage arcade. So this summer we’re doing it as kind of a living exhibit, an arcade space with Skee-ball machines, vintage console games.”

Day passes for the arcade cost $12, and rides are $3 each or $25 for a ten-ride pass.
