SOMERVILLE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Around 20 small businesses from around Massachusetts took part in the "Blooms and Brews" event in Somerville Sunday.

Revere-based stationary shop Planning with a Scorpio hosted the pop up market at Aeronaut Brewing Co. According to Scorpio owner Rachel Gaudet, they received close to 50 applications.

"We want to create a curated market for shoppers as well as the vendors," Gaudet told WBZ NewsRadio.

Merchants sold products ranging from handcrafted bowls and natural skin products to earrings made of animal bones found in the forest.

"[We're] really excited about the amount of spring items we have, really just trying to bring everyone into the spring spirit," Gaudet said.

Alexandra Fletcher with Fletch Handmade Homewares came all the way from the western part of the state to set up shop.

"I thought it would be a great opportunity to get my work in front of a few more eyes than I’m kinda used to out in western Mass, and also I wanted to support the making community that we have here in Massachusetts," Fletcher said.

Kathy, owner of By Melange in Braintree, was happy with the turnout.

"So far, so good, people got here right on time, so it’s flowing," said Kathy.
