BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is offering free Bluebikes Day Passes every Monday from August 5-26.
This initiative is designed to highlight the positive impact that an activity like biking can have on someone’s overall physical and mental health according to a press release.
The free day passes will be available starting Monday, August 5 across Bluebikes 13 municipalities: Arlington, Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Newton, Revere, Salem, Somerville, and Watertown.

To unlock the day passes, riders must enter the applicable code on the Bluebikes App, which will unlock one free day pass.
Riders can access the bikes for free on the first Monday of every month by entering a code that corresponds to the appropriate date.
A free day pass also includes unlimited complimentary two-hour pedal bike rides during a 24-hour period, and free ebike unlocks. Riders can also upgrade to ebike rides for an additional per minute fee.

Blue Cross is the title sponsor of Bluebikes, a system that offers public transportation by bike.
According to a press release, the system is municipally owned by thirteen cities and towns in eastern Massachusetts, jointly managed by the Cities of Boston, Cambridge, Everett, and Somerville and the Town of Brookline, and operated under contract by Lyft.
