BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — The blue line is back on track after a train lost power with hundreds of people on board Tuesday afternoon.

Passengers were forced to walk along the tracks of a dimly lit tunnel under Boston Harbor after a downed communications wire forced the train to stop between Aquarium and Maverick station. Turner from Eastie said the riders were discontented, disillusioned and disappointed by the situation.

"It was definitely very interesting seeing everyone sorta freak out about it. It was very understandable."

Power on the train was eventually turned off, along with the air conditioning causing even more frustration among riders as the temperatures reached 86 degrees.

Crews from the Boston Fire Department spent approximately one hour evacuating everyone from the train. Shuttle buses replaced service between Government Center and Airport during the delay.

"It seemed more like they were kinda just fed up. Like a bus would show up and people were just like, they would just turn around, look at it and then turn back around. So they seemed very fed up," Turner said.

Residual delays impacted travelers for the rest of the day.

"I had to take the silver line, so it probably added maybe about an hour to my way home," one commuter remarked.

"A huge hour and half delay, which I just didn't expect. So, it was like two hours compared to forty minutes. So it was a pretty long commute," another traveler commented.

No injuries were reported.
