Blue Ridge Beef Issues Voluntary Recall For Puppy, Kitten Food

STATESVILLE, N.C. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Pet food maker Blue Ridge Beef is issuing a voluntary recall on certain lots of its Puppy Mix, Kitten Mix, and Kitten Grind pet foods because of a potential Salmonella and Listeria contamination.

The U.S. Food & Drug Administration says the products were distributed between Nov. 14, 2023 and Dec. 20, 2023, and sold in retail stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and New York.

The products, UPC numbers, and lot number/use by dates of each product are:

  • Kitten Grind (2lbs) ---- 8 54298 00101 6 ---- N24 1114 to N24 1224
  • Kitten Mix (2lbs) ---- 8 54298 00243 6 ---- N24 1114 to N24 1224
  • Puppy Mix (2lbs) ---- 8 54298 00169 6 ---- N24 1114 to N24 1224

The lot numbers and use by dates can found on the silver tabs at the end of each product.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection in humans include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. Pets who contact Salmonella and Listeria infections may have lethargy, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting.

Blue Ridge Beef says there have been no illnesses reported so far.
