SAUGUS, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — After years of construction, the Belden Bly Bridge connecting Saugus and Lynn partially reopened this week.

“I think it will be great,” one Saugus resident said.

The bridge closed in 2013, and a temporary bridge has been used in its place to connect Saugus and Lynn. Meantime, construction and repairs to the Bly began in 2021.

“It took quite a while honestly,” Jonathan from Saugus said.

The bridge is only partially open with only one lane in each direction open at this time.

Some locals were stoked to see some progress made on the bridge after a long wait.

“It looks really nice, I might just cross over there for the fun of it,” another Saugus local said.

“It’s been in the making for a long time,” one local said.

The final phase of the project will be removing he temporary bridge that has been in place since 2013.
