Body Found In Stairwell At Bedford VA

BEDFORD, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The body of a man who went missing about five weeks ago has been discovered in a stairwell in a building on the Bedford VA campus.

According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan's office, the body of the 62-year-old man was discovered by another patient in the Bedford Veterans Quarters on Friday.

The BVQ houses 56 formerly homeless veterans and offers services like medical care, mental health, employment referrals and food assistance.

The property is an independent living facility, operated by Caritas Communities and leased from the VA, where residents are not obligated to check in with staff.

DA Marion Ryan said the body of the 62-year-old man was discovered wearing the same clothes in which he was reported missing. The circumstances of his death is still under investigation.

Ryan also told WBZ there could be charges filed if the investigation finds not enough was done to locate the man after he went missing on May 8th.
