CANTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — The body of a teenager who went missing on Wednesday was located over the weekend, according to Canton Police.
The day after 19-year-old Ryan Lahiff was last seen, Canton Police advised the public that there would be "a heavy police presence" in the areas of Dedham Street and Chapman Street, in search for a missing person.
On Saturday, Canton Police Chief Ken Berkowitz said officers would continue the land search for Lahiff, alerting residents on Pleasant Street that there would be K-9s and their handlers in the nearby densely wooded areas.
Berkowitz asked any Canton residents between Sherman Street and Pleasant Street, particularly on Washington Street, to check any outbuildings or sheds on their property to assist in the search.
Lahiff's body was located later on Saturday. No foul play is suspected.
Chief Berkowitz said the department was "heartbroken" about the results of the recent search.
"I’m proud of [the] Canton Police response," he tweeted. "We searched over 225 acres, underwater areas, and from the air. Thanks to our sworn and public partners. RIP Ryan."
