Body Of Missing Sturbridge Man Found, State Police Say

STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — Friday morning a Department of Conservation and Recreation Ranger found a body in the lower section of the Quabbin Reservoir. That body, police identified, was that of 71-year-old George Guttler of Sturbridge, who had been declared missing in early March.

The Massachusetts State Police said in a statement that divers responded and recovered the deceased adult male from the body of water. Guttler had been reported missing by his family and was searched for in a joint operation between state and local police agencies and DCR employees. According to police, the searches were conducted by land, air, and water.

Police said the investigation into Guttler's death would continue, and that the Northwestern District Attorney's Office and the State Police Detective Unit for Hampshire and Franklin Counties.
