Body Of Motorcyclist Ejected In Crash Found In Taunton River

TAUNTON, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — A body found Monday evening along the banks of the Taunton River has been identified as a motorcycle driver who police say crashed Sunday and was ejected into the river.

According to Massachusetts State Police, Troopers responded to a call at around 12:30 a.m. Sunday about a 2020 Kawasaki Z125 Pro motorcycle in the middle of the roadway on the ramp from the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge (Route 6 eastbound) to Route 79 southbound.

Investigation led Troopers to determine that the motorcycle driver was likely thrown over an embankment from the impact of the crash and fell into the water below. The State Police Underwater Recovery Team searched the river Sunday and Monday, recovering only articles of clothing.

The body of the motorcycle driver, identified as 35-year-old Gary Amaral of Fall River, was located Monday evening washed up on the shore near Riverview Drive, about 1.5 miles downriver from the area searched by the Dive Team. MSP said an investigation is ongoing.
