BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — A staple of Boston’s arts community returns for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
ArtBoston reopened the BosTix booth in Faneuil Hall on Wednesday, providing discounted tickets for arts performances in the city. The first BosTix booth was created in 1978, but both the Faneuil Hall and Back Bay booths were forced to close in March 2020.
“For half-priced tickets, I’ll wait in line,” said one man doing just that. “I think it’s great. Any city with a theater district should have something like this.”
The reopening of BosTix came with a partnership with the Emerson Colonial Theatre, which is holding a six-week pre-Broadway premiere of “The Queen of Versailles.” BosTix is selling 400 tickets for just $49 to sit in the orchestra level, which is a significant discount compared to similar tickets available online.
One woman in line was there to secure some discounted tickets to the show.
“I’m very excited for the reopening, it’s a Boston landmark. Kristin Chenoweth is an amazing star so I’m hoping to get some good tickets on the first day and I’m so excited,” said the woman. “I looked online ahead of time and I decided the deal down here is a lot better.”
ArtsBoston said the second BosTix booth in the Back Bay could open as soon as the end of 2024.
