WALTHAM, Mass. (WBZ NewsRadio) — It's a career sure to impress at a cocktail party.

Leeanna Queen is a piano technician for the esteemed Boston piano dealer M. Steinert And Sons.

The company has been an authorized dealer of Steinway pianos for more than 160 years.

As a piano technician, also known as a piano tuner, she is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and tuning of new and used pianos.

She's been on the job for about four years now.

And she said so far, she's managed to keep the pianos she works on humming along nicely. "Whatever I break, I know how to fix 99.9 percent of the time," she laughed. "I have yet to do damage that was irreparable."

She said her job to keep her pianos pitch-perfect is challenging but fulfilling. "Each one is a puzzle, and I like that," Queen said. "You're just constantly doing problem-solving."

The company's warehouse in Waltham is filled with upright and grand pianos.

Queen said she's comfortable working on all kinds of pianos.

But she said the older pianos tend to be more complicated and more challenging to work on with some she said having more parts than a car. "Yeah, it's up there with a car at least."

One of the questions she inevitably gets asked is if she plays the piano.

Her answer?

Yes, she plays, but not much. "When it's your job, it's a little bit harder to go home and spend even more time with a piano."
