BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — "Accidentally Wes Anderson" has arrived in Boston.
Wally Koval created his viral page named after the filmmaker Wes Anderson in 2017 as a way to document his travel bucket list with his wife. Since then, the page has not only taken on a life of its own, but it's also received a co-sign from Anderson. With nearly two million followers and two books under his belt, Koval says the project is bigger than he could have imagined.
"Somehow we're still able to pay our rent doing this, so pinch me, we're knocking on wood and all of the things while we do this."
His account features images of real places that look like they could be featured in one of Anderson's films. The iconic imagery showcases pastel colors, symmetry, and unique designs of everyday places. He hopes to inspire others to pay closer attention to the beauty around them.
"There's a lot more cool stuff in your neighborhoods and cities and towns, no matter how big or small they are," Koval said. "And if you look at them from a slightly different perspective and maybe ask a couple of questions to your local octogenarian, you'll learn something really interesting that you never quite knew before."
Visitors can see the Wes Anderson-esque photos and hear the stories behind them at the Boston Athenaeum on Aug. 13.
