BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Mass General pediatric cancer patients received a surprise visit from some superheroes on Wednesday.
Taking time off from their busy schedule, members of the Boston Bruins exchanged their uniforms as professional hockey players to becoming caped crusaders for a day, including Captain America, Superman, and Batman and Robin.
Jeremy Swayman, Fraser Minten, Mark Kastelic, John Beecher, and Sean Kuraly spent time at MGH sharing some laughs with the young cancer patients.
Swayman said he had this hospital visit date circled on his calendar. "It's just such a humbling feeling being able to come here," Swayman said. "This is an incredible hospital, the staff, and obviously the people in here are just world class humans. This never gets old and I'm going to continue coming back every single year."
Sean Kuraly, back with the Bruins for a second stint, said after losing his Dad last month to pancreatic cancer, he had a whole new perspective visiting with the kids. "I think you kind of have a different idea of what it means to be sitting in those hospital chairs and maybe have a better idea of how to bring a little joy to those that are sitting there."
