BOSTON (WBZ NewsRadio) — Celtics are done for the season but, while four teams will play on, tonight may be big for Boston.
NBA Draft Lottery.
Knicks, Cavaliers, and Suns each have a 14 percent chance at landing the Number 1 pick and right to select Duke's Zion Williamson next month, but the C's hope the ping pong balls will bounce their way for the second choice.
Boston has 3.7 percent odds of getting the second, third, or fourth pick from Sacramento, though the most likely scenario is the Kings' pick checks in at Number 14. Those are 95 percent odds.
In the remote, one percent chance the pick does come in first, the Celtics will lose the selection to the Sixers, and get theirs at 24 instead. That'd be bad. But, again, very unlikely.
Boston will also get Memphis' first-round pick, if it falls outside the top-eight. Otherwise, that choice may convey with top-six protections next year instead.
Celts already know they'll draft at 20 and 22 as well, so long as Danny Ainge doesn't swing a trade beforehand. Never count that out.
