'Yoga Reaches Out' Raises Millions For Sick Children At Boston Children's

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (WBZNewsRadio) — It's that time of year again, 'Yoga Reaches Out' held their annual 'Yogathon,' raising money to help patients and their families at Boston Children's Hospital.

The Yogathon has been running since 2010, and brings together yoga practitioners from all over to raise funds with every pose, breathe and 'om' helping children and their families in their battles against devastating diseases. In the last 13 years, they've raised more than $3.5 million.

Because of the rain, nearly 1,000 participants laid out their mats inside the Socios.com Field House, instead of the field of Gillette.

It was back in 2010 that Sarah Gardner started 'Yoga Reaches Out,' after her son became ill and needed to be hospitalized for several weeks.

“It’s this beautiful energy with the community coming together and feeling so good about their contributions,” she said. “We’re helping the hospital in big and small ways. Every person that is here is making a difference.”
